Lead Civil Design Engineer (Drainage Design)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Civil Design Engineer specializing in Drainage Design to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in water engineering, with a focus on surface and groundwater systems, collection systems, and drainage (pipeline/tunnel) systems. This role requires a professional with significant experience in leading technical project delivery and supporting project management functions for large-scale projects in the water sector.
What You'll be Doing:
Lead the design and development of drainage systems, including surface and groundwater systems, collection systems, and pipeline/tunnel systems.
Oversee and manage the technical aspects of large-scale water engineering projects from inception to completion.
Act as the primary technical authority on drainage design projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project delivery and integration of design solutions.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
Prepare and review technical reports, design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Serve as the acting Project Manager for various projects/programmes, coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and contractors.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a reputable institution. A Master's degree is preferred.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) status from a recognized professional institution.
A minimum of 18 years of demonstrable relevant design and project experience in the water sector.
Professional Project Management status, such as PMP, is desirable.
Extensive experience in the design and delivery of drainage systems, including surface and groundwater systems, collection systems, and pipeline/tunnel systems.
Proven track record of leading technical project delivery for large-scale water engineering projects.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in relevant design software and tools.
