Lead Civil Design Engineer (Drainage Design)

Qatar

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Civil Design Engineer specializing in Drainage Design to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in water engineering, with a focus on surface and groundwater systems, collection systems, and drainage (pipeline/tunnel) systems. This role requires a professional with significant experience in leading technical project delivery and supporting project management functions for large-scale projects in the water sector.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Lead the design and development of drainage systems, including surface and groundwater systems, collection systems, and pipeline/tunnel systems.

  • Oversee and manage the technical aspects of large-scale water engineering projects from inception to completion.

  • Act as the primary technical authority on drainage design projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project delivery and integration of design solutions.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.

  • Prepare and review technical reports, design calculations, drawings, and specifications.

  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.

  • Serve as the acting Project Manager for various projects/programmes, coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and contractors.

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a reputable institution. A Master's degree is preferred.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) status from a recognized professional institution.

  • A minimum of 18 years of demonstrable relevant design and project experience in the water sector.

  • Professional Project Management status, such as PMP, is desirable.

  • Extensive experience in the design and delivery of drainage systems, including surface and groundwater systems, collection systems, and pipeline/tunnel systems.

  • Proven track record of leading technical project delivery for large-scale water engineering projects.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in relevant design software and tools.
