Job Summary

Combines motor vehicle handling ability, communication skills and patient/resident handling.

Responsible for light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks completed under supervision in a safe, professional manner.

Responsible for care of the organization's maintained grounds. Work will include, but not be limited to, all types of outside property maintenance, snow removal, equipment work, and basic tree trimming. Patient/resident sensitivity and confidentiality are a must, and are practiced at all times. Combine communication skills and patient/resident handling. On a continuum the driver must develop an understanding of the patient's/resident's physical and emotional status. Works with all ages of patients/residents. Transports safely and as scheduled. Assures that all support equipment are well maintained and in good operating condition. Sets up equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations and internal policy. Maintains appropriate records per Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and internal required reports. Aware and communicates scheduling conflicts as needed or predicted.

May assist with inside maintenance and construction assistance work. Assists with maintenance and repair of sprinkler systems. Assists with parking lot repairs, such as cold patching/asphalt repairs. Assists with assessments on grounds. May assist with minor electrical work. May assist with general maintenance work on various equipment.

Ability to operate equipment for mowing and snow removal equipment such as mowers, weed-eaters, pickup with snow removal equipment, power brooms etc. Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools as well as light and heavy-duty machinery helpful. Ability to work on high equipment, such as lifts, ladders etc. Experience in parking ramp, lawn maintenance, and general maintenance desired.

Knowledge of mechanics and a working knowledge of plumbing, painting, electronics, masonry, carpentry, welding, and landscape technology. Adaptable to learn maintenance duties inside buildings when needed.

Must comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code. Understand written and verbal communications.

Works independently with minimal supervision. Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances.

May require on-call duties as needed or as directed by the department.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience in all types of building maintenance preferred.

Depending on location, a valid driver's license and a good driving record may be required. Depending on location, may be required to take CPR/BLS upon hire.
