Robert Half Data Center Technician in Ashburn, Virginia
Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Data Center Technician in Ashburn, Virginia. The role involves managing infrastructure installation requests, certifying network connections, and coordinating work with various teams. The industry is technology focused and the workplace is fast-paced.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the initiation to closure process of infrastructure installation requests.
• Communicate directly with both the IT and Project Management teams to document requirements.
• Work closely with electrical contractors to ensure all service levels are met.
• Create and monitor tickets and close or cancel them once the work is complete.
• Coordinate power remediation from start to finish.
• Assist with capacity management at the rack level and monitor MOA.
• Participate in meetings pertaining to BAU or project INF work.
• Provide detailed Root Cause Analysis reports regarding power issues.
• Coordinate and survey for power installs, infrastructure & rack installs, and infrastructure cabling.
• Oversee new data center build-outs.
• Manage equipment procurement, including ordering all infrastructure materials, tracking purchase orders, and maintaining infrastructure stock. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Data Center Technician or in a similar role
• Proficiency in Network Operations Center (NOC) tasks and operations
• Ability to assemble and install cables effectively
• Experience with cable installation in a data center environment
• Familiarity with Microsoft software and operating systems
• Proficient in handling and maintaining Cisco hardware
• Knowledge and understanding of SAN - Storage Area Network
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
