Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). We provide patient centered, team-based primary care to residents of Western North Carolina.Our growing team is looking for a full-time Employee Health/Infection Control Nurse, LPN. WNCCHS is committed to providing you with the support you need.This individual will be responsible for all functions of the employee health program and for providing clinical employee health services to staff at Western North Carolina Community Health Services. This individual also has oversight over infection control and prevention related activities within the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes but not limited to the following:

  1. Maintains strict confidentiality.
  2. Maintains complete and accurate employee health records.
  3. Will be responsible for all new staff employee health orientation that includes TB testing, immunization review, bloodborne pathogen training for at risk staff and infection control for all staff.
  4. Conduct annual TB screening.
  5. Evaluate and test employees with symptoms of flu or COVID.
  6. Collects COVID/Flu specimens from staff for laboratory analysis.
  7. Complete all required documentation for Human Resources for staff out with COVID/Flu.
  8. Complete new and annual N95 fit testing for all at risk staff.
  9. Complete assessment on injured staff, make appropriate referral for treatment and completing paperwork for Human Resources.
  10. Document care provided accurately in employee health records.
  11. Administer COVID vaccines according to WNCCHS Policy and Procedure on Immunizations.
  12. Document staff COVID vaccines in state vaccine registry.
  13. Apply all charges associated with COVID testing or vaccines visit.
  14. Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
  15. Train new staff proper use of PPE.
  16. Review annually proper use of PPE.
  17. Participate in infection control risk assessments to identify areas of improvement and compliance.
  18. Preform scheduled cleaning and spore testing on all medical autoclaves.
  19. Monitor PPE levels for appropriate levels.
  20. Participate in infection control meetings.
  21. Promote and administer annual flu vaccine.
  22. Promotes wellness to staff through email, newsletter, or meetings.
  23. Monitor all reporting of diseases to County and State Health Departments.
  24. Participate in mandatory in-services, drills, staff meetings and other trainings.
  25. Perform duties in a prioritized, organized, and orderly manner to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  26. Facilitate the maintenance of a clean, neat, and well-organized work area.
  27. Participate in quality improvement activities by initiating or contributing to monitoring, measuring, analyzing, improving and/or controlling program goals, objectives and/or services.
  28. Support current incentive, regulatory, and certification requirements (such as PCMH and UDS) through documentation, participation in initiatives, and other activities as directed.
  29. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of LPN experience, medical office, infection control, employee health experience preferred
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of North Carolina
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
  • Familiar with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions. Understanding of documentation standards
  • BLS/CPR certification for Health Care providers
  • Current and unrestricted drivers license
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
  • NC SPICE certification within six months of employment

Salary range $51,168 to $56,160
