POSITION SUMMARY:The Tax Escrow Specialist will work collaboratively with the different departments, acting as a liaison to ensure information is shared as needed. The incumbent is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate escrow accounts, specifically focusing on tax and insurance components, including PMI and flood. This role be responsible for monitoring tax and insurance payment schedules, ensuring timely disbursements, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for tracking and processing payments for all tax and insurance policies (including PMI) in the consumer/commercial loan portfolio. Follow-up with customers and agencies as needed.
  • Review and suggest additional controls regarding tax and insurance payments to mitigate risk as needed.
  • Produce Escrow Analysis Statements for all consumer/commercial type insurance and taxes and perform account maintenance. Perform Escrow Review and Release module.
  • Monitor and process requests from the loan servicing email box.
  • Collaborate with tax authorities, insurance providers, and other external entities to address inquiries and resolve issues.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting property taxes and insurance, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Work closely with loan servicing teams to communicate and implement changes in escrow accounts.
  • Provide support to the officers by addressing inquiries related to tax and insurance escrow accounts.
  • Reconcile and report on escrow account activity, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for internal and external audits as required.
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the Loan Servicing Department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of insurance / tax concepts.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks by organizing and setting priorities.
  • High School diploma.
  • 2 years of banking experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to reach, bend, squat at files.
  • Able to sit for a long period of time.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Stress tolerance.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
  • Consistently operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printers.
  • Climate controlled general office setting with moderate noise level.
  • Must express or exchange ideas and meaning with co-workers, supervisors, customers and vendors.
