TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Vocational Rehabilitation Training Specialist (Hybrid) in Austin, Texas

WHO YOU ARE: A creative, experienced, vocational rehabilitation counselor (VRC) who understands how to deliver training to an adult audience. You would be excited to join the VR Training team, which specializes in delivering job-skills courses to VR counselors and other VR staff. WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Vocational Rehabilitation Training Specialist (Training and Development Specialist IV) performs highly complex (senior-level) training work. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: -Develop and deliver a wide variety of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) training topics to VR staff using approved department guidelines. -Collaborate with Texas Workforce Solutions (TWS) management to assess training needs. -Develop training strategies and/or training solutions to meet customer requirements. -Coordinate and conduct train-the-trainer workshops and project meetings. -Build positive working relationships with subject-matter experts and co-workers to accomplish the department's goals and objectives. - Prepare documents, such as correspondence, reports, and training materials, with a high degree of accuracy using correct format and grammar. -Serve as mentor for other training staff on occasion. -Advocate for a culture of continuous learning throughout the Texas Workforce System (TWS). -Perform other duties as assigned.
YOU QUALIFY WITH: - Three years of experience in positions that provided knowledge of training methods, techniques, and materials as related to individual development, education, and training programs; or in positions that provided knowledge of agency operation or programs which included giving group presentations. -Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: -Experience as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. -Skill in delivering training to adults in a classroom or virtual platform such as TEAMS or ZOOM. -Experience with VR case management tools and processes. -Experience working with individuals who have different abilities and accessibility needs or in an environment addressing functional limitations. -Experience developing and revising training curricula to meet specific business requirements. -Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Duty involves up to 25% travel within the state of Texas
