Position Summary:
The Risk Adjustment Coding Training Specialist develops and executes comprehensive training programs focused on value-based risk adjustment coding. This role ensures that clinicians and value- based coders within the Population Health Services Organization (PHSO) are proficient in accurate documentation of patient diagnoses and coding practices, aligning with local and regional regulatory requirements and organizational standards. Travels to provider offices when necessary.
The Risk Adjustment Coding and Training Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering a robust curriculum focused on keeping value-based coder(s) abreast of the latest industry and regulatory guidelines, as well as ensuring continuous improvement to ensure maximum reimbursement from health plan payors.
The role reports directly to the Risk Adjustment Population Health Director and plays a critical role in optimizing coding accuracy, enhancing compliance, ensuring financial stability and profitability of the PHSO value-based operations and programs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience with risk adjustment coding and/or medical coding
Advanced knowledge of ICD-10 coding and HCCs
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Google applications
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a value-based care program
Experience in developing and delivering training programs in a healthcare setting
Pay Range
$35.28 - $51.16 /hour
