Covenant Health NURSE EXTERN CNA in Bangor, Maine
The starting rate for this position is: $22/hr

Job Summary
The Nurse Extern opportunity is a temporary, full-time (36 hour) summer position focused on the development of professional nursing skills and acquisition of clinical experience.
Each week, 24 hours (two-12 hour shifts) will be dedicated to the CNA role, performing patient care tasks in accordance with by the State of Maine Nursing Board and St. Joseph Hospital policies and procedures.
Concurrently, the Nurse Extern will spend 12 hours each week (one 12-hour shift) dedicated to increasing nursing knowledge in a series of classroom sessions, simulation, and observational experiences in various settings within the hospital under the guidance of an RN mentor and educator. Additionally, the Nurse Extern will participate in team building and volunteer work to support active engagement within the Bangor community in alignment with the Mission of St. Joseph Hospital.
Education Requirements
Active State of Maine Registry for CNA
BLS required upon hire
GPA of 3.2 or higher
Completed 2 clinical rotations in a clinical environment, entering Senior level
Will complete employee orientation for CNA
Resume, cover letter, letter of recommendation from faculty, and interview required
Program begins on Tuesday, May 27 and ends August 17
Must be able to commit to the full 11 weeks as scheduled (Week of 4th of July off unpaid*)
First three weeks will consist of hospital and unit CNA orientation (3-12 hour shifts). Nursing didactic day will begin week 4.
CNA shift will be worked on inpatient units: Med/Neuro, CPCU, or Surg/Ortho
