Job Title: Sr Tax Accountant
Job Description
As a Sr Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for signing off on tax returns for clients, providing quick resolutions for client inquiries or tax issues, maintaining relationships with clients and their contacts, pursuing new business development opportunities, performing basic bookkeeping duties, and handling tax filing for individuals, partnerships, S Corps, and C Corps. You will be expected to work extended hours during the busy season, ranging from 60 to 70 hours per week if needed (overtime hours and pay).
Responsibilities
Sign off on tax returns for clients.
Provide quick resolutions for client inquiries or tax issues.
Maintain relationships with clients and their contacts.
Pursue new business development opportunities.
Perform basic bookkeeping duties.
Handle tax filing for individuals, partnerships, S Corps, and C Corps.
Essential Skills
3+ years of tax experience.
Experience with individual tax returns (1040).
Knowledge of GAAP, including P/L statements.
Certification as EA, CTP, or CPA with the ability to sign off on returns/filings.
Proficiency in MS Excel, including use of Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP.
Initiative and problem-solving skills.
Personable and professional demeanor.
Attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
Experience with Lacerte Tax or other tax software.
Experience with bookkeeping/accounting.
Work Environment
The work environment is hard-working and client service-focused, with a team size of 9 members across three offices supporting the tax side. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with flexible hours within reason (e.g., for childcare). During the busy season, you may be required to work extended hours (60-70 hours/week). The team is collaborative, and members can reach out to other partners for assistance when overloaded. The main focus is on client satisfaction and service.
