Primary Purpose
The MATC Instructional Assistant is responsible to serve the students as they assist the primary instructor. The position involves using state approved criteria to teach, select, and conduct hands-on learning experiences, under the direction MATC faculty, and the MATC Program Director.
Essenatial Duties and Responsibilities
Assist during MATC program courses under the direction of the primary instructor, answering student questions regarding class exercises, providing instruction in procedures, monitoring of safety during field experience requiring use of tools or power equipment, administering of lab quizzes, grading of lab quizzes or assignments. Assist in development of lab and lecture exercises and curriculum under direction of primary instructor.
Conduct layout of classroom or field exercises, checkout and in of equipment as needed.
Perform minor maintenance/cleaning of lab equipment in the tool room or field.
Conduct data entry and analysis of data.
Perform other essential functions as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Manufactured and Applied Technology.
Knowledge of teaching and instruction of various audiences and group dynamics.
Visual ability, corrected, to enable assistant to observe, direct, and supervise students in classroom situations.
Familiarity with tools (both hand and power) that are used in MATC .
Ability to communicate information effectively regarding College policies and procedures to students.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to manage conflicts within and/or between groups and to work in a team environment.
Ability to develop strong working relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds and other aspects of human diversity.
Ability to review, understand and apply concepts presented in training programs, conferences, and/or professional literature.
Ability to meet deadlines, set work priorities, and manage workload.
Ability to use software programs and database systems which include Microsoft Office Suite, email, audio/visual equipment, mixed media presentations, basic desktop publishing, and modern office equipment.
Ergonomic Requirements
Regular office hours are established between 8 am – 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, as well as travel to other locations, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.
Incumbent must be able to complete the essential job functions listed above with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is typically performed standing. Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Requirements
Education: One-year certificate or Associates Degree.
Experience: Completed coursework in COCC Manufacturing Program.

Preferred Qualifications
Education: AAS in a related field.
Experience: Teaching experience in a Community College setting.
