The Loss Prevention Specialist (LPS) is a key high level associate position in the Amazon Fulfillment Centers (FCs). The Loss Prevention Specialist leads the effort to effectively provide security services and asset protection (lives, buildings, equipment, inventory, data, & intellectual property) in a designated fulfillment center. The LPS reports to the Loss Prevention Manager responsible for their facility, and aids them in supporting the FC Operational team as well as cross functional teams throughout the organization.

Key job responsibilities

• Enhance, track, and report on metrics which are key performance indicators, allowing performance improvements so that the desired outcomes are achieved to plan and in a timely manner;

• Ensure internal controls per Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements related to area are fulfilled;

• Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methods to drive process improvements and increase efficiency;

• Conduct confidential investigations and prepare prompt written reports of theft, fraud, and workplace violence/critical incidents;

• Align performance and actions with other departmens and clearly articulate the security vision and values of the organization and their departments;

• Identify, promote and implement security best practices in a designated FC;

• Serve as department liaison and security/crisis management subject matter expert for site leadership keeping them informed on key issues, strategies, and the department’s performance;

• Effectively partner with internal customers in evaluating current and future security services, processes and initiatives;

• Coordinate data collection, through database polling or data entry, from multiple FCs; and conduct analysis generating strategic and tactical interpretations;

• Contribute to the identification of vulnerabilities (e.g., loss, associate experience, process improvement, data protection, physical security infrastructure) and define appropriate mitigating actions while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards;

A day in the life

As a member of Brazil Security & Loss Prevention Team, you will be responsible for leading the effort to efficiently and effectively provide security services and asset protection to protect People, Product and Data within your site.

You will execute this through daily partnerships with critical site, and regional, leaders across Operations, Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), PxT, Employee Relations, RME and more. You will be an expert across multiple operational disciplines in order to drive efficiency and loss reduction efforts. Amazon's LP and shrink reduction efforts are supported by the Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) team through the creation of an overall global strategy designed to optimize resources and leverage technology to mitigate product loss and maintain customer satisfaction. The Security & Loss Prevention Team often collaborates with external partners, including law enforcement agencies, private investigators, and security vendors, to enhance security measures and investigate incidents.

The composition and structure of a Loss Prevention Team can vary depending on the size and industry of the organization. However, their collective efforts are essential for protecting company assets, reducing losses, and maintaining a secure business environment.

About the team

Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) is the global organization that supports field Security and Loss Prevention and is designed to support Amazon’s Worldwide Operations, as well as affiliate and retail businesses. WWOS creates and maintains a work environment that is prepared and secure through global security centers of excellence staffed by subject matter experts in people and asset protection. We accomplish this by creating policy and implementing guidelines; training leadership and staff; using technology to eliminate subjectivity, complexity, and variation; identifying, preparing for, and mitigating risk; and auditing our practices to ensure compliance.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent diploma;

• Intermediate English skills - handle everyday conversations, express thoughts on familiar topics, and understand the main points of clear standard speech or writing;

• Experience in security services, asset protection, audit, risk management, inventory control, quality assurance, or other related field;

• Proficient with MS Office Professional Suite, to include intermediate knowledge of Excel;

• Must be flexible to work on weekends and/or overnight shifts as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or related;

• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma concepts desired and certification;

• Strong familiarity with data bases (querying and analyzing) such as SQL, MYSQL, Access, Exception

• Experience making and influencing informed decisions by leveraging data and metrics;

• Demonstrated ability to work independently without supervision in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment;

• Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, network and influence across all business levels in a diverse workforce environment;

• Interviewing experience; Wicklander and Zulawski, LPQ, CPP, LPC, CFI or other relevant certifications

• Experience in implementing metric-based strategies utilizing continuous improvement concepts;

• Experience in physical security systems maintenance/implementation and coordinating scope of work with security vendors;

• Experience working at warehouse or distribution center services;

• Workplace Violence and/or Business Continuity experience;
