Capitol Distributing is the largest convenience wholesale distributor in Idaho. Founded in 1983, Capitol delivers to retailers across the Western United States from its 300,000 square foot distribution center in Caldwell, Idaho.
The Facility Refrigeration Specialist will safely maintain and optimize the performance of the ammonia refrigeration plant, as well as the building’s structure, supporting systems and grounds by performing repairs as needed and applying preventative maintenance as planned. Work with minimal supervision, provide training and clear instructions to others and troubleshoot a variety of equipment-related problems. The Facility Refrigeration Specialist must be able to work a flexible work schedule, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.
What you'll do as a Maintenance Refrigeration Specialist:
Work as a team to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and functional.
Ensure the safe operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
Repair and overhaul equipment, such as compressors, water pumps, air handlers, and electrical and mechanical control devices in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
Maintain ammonia system to include valve gangs, evaporators, vessels, compressors, auto-purger, pumps, and other sub-assemblies related to the system.
Provide general repair work on refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment, such as air conditioning units, evaporative condensers, banana room equipment, water pumps, gas furnaces, compressors, and electric motors in a safe and timely manner.
Provide preventative maintenance activities by diagnosing equipment malfunction and any operating deficiency of the mechanical equipment to ensure quality work performance.
Monitor and document maintenance schedules, repairs, replacement parts, and compliance records. Adhere to established preventative maintenance schedules.
Conduct PLC Troubleshooting and/or programming.
Electrical controls, mechanical, pneumatics, wiring, instrumentation & Troubleshooting
Maintain Pipe Fitting/Plumbing.
Lead safety initiatives by proposing policies and assisting in writing procedure manuals and trainings.
Own communication of all appropriate information regarding system operation and maintenance to all department managers and leadership team.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support production demands as may be specified by customer or client. Also, perform other related duties as required by management.
Preferred Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical school education preferred, but not required.
5+ years of work-related experience with equipment repair and maintenance.
Mechanical troubleshooting experience.
Highly proficient in Ammonia systems, and knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM).
RETA Certifications; CARO Certified, CIRO and/or CRST preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to stay productive and positive with minimal oversight.
The ability to work a flexible schedule, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Bilingual with Spanish is a plus.
Physical Demands:
The ability to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged periods of time. Additionally, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Heavy use of hands and arms to feel, lift, reach, & grip items as needed.
Occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects up to 50-70 pounds.
Occasionally be exposed to hot, cold, wet, and slippery conditions. Temperature fluctuations in different work areas vary between -20◦F to 100◦F.
The employee must be comfortable with heights and have the ability to work safely while on scissor lifts, scaffolds, catwalks, and rooftops that exceed 45 feet in height.
The employee must be able to wear personal protective gear throughout the day.
