About the Role
Program Overview
The Legal, Compliance and Risk Business Associate (BA) Program is an exciting pathway into our firm for graduating, undergraduate Bachelor’s students who are interested in the variety of career opportunities available in the investment management industry. This three-year, Hong Kong-based program will help you gain insight into our industry, firm and culture, as well as knowledge of the many different business divisions that support our investment management business.
As a Business Associate the program will help you to develop your business and technical skillset all while assimilating into the firm, your job and our culture. During the program, we will work alongside you to help you to discover your long-term fit here at the firm and be placed into positions that are complementary to your skills, interests, and business needs. BAs have successfully transitioned into roles on their current BA teams, onto other teams in the firm and into other offices (here in Hong Kong and across the globe.)
Role Overview
Legal, Compliance and Risk
The Legal, Compliance and Risk division is a global team that is comprised of multiple highly collaborative teams that support all aspects of our business: Legal, Compliance, Enterprise Risk, Internal Audit, and Regulatory Technology & Operations.
As a Business Associate, you will be in a three-year rotational program, starting with the APAC Compliance function and subsequently transitioning to the Legal function.
Responsibilities during the first rotation may include, but are not limited to:
Supporting the HK Core Compliance team in handling licensing applications, regulatory surveys, and supervisory reports.
Supporting the Public Markets Compliance team on wall crossing requests from brokers.
Participating in our compliance testing program to verify the firm’s compliance with its policies and procedures.
Partnering with compliance officers and analysts on special projects supporting the compliance program.
Project management of regulatory and business changes that center on legal or compliance considerations.
Responsibilities in latter rotations may include, but are not limited to:
Assisting in the review and negotiation of investment management agreements to support our institutional client business.
Assisting with corporate governance, including supporting affiliate boards.
Partnering with attorneys or analysts on special projects to support regulatory initiatives.
Qualifications
Undergraduates from all majors graduating with a Bachelor’s degree between 2024 and the summer of 2025
Highest ethical standards and personal and professional integrity.
Demonstrated academic accomplishments.
Proven leadership experience and participation in community service and extracurricular activities.
Advanced skill in Microsoft 365 Excel and proficiency in Microsoft 365 Word and PowerPoint. Other advanced computer skills such as programming and AI tools highly valued.
Fluency in written and spoken English and the ability to read Chinese is preferred
Sharp quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to synthesize information
Self-starter with a high level of intellectual curiosity and ability to effectively prioritize tasks
