Job Title: Mechanical Product Engineer II
Job Description
The Product Engineer II is responsible for creating product design concepts and drawings for internally or externally funded research and development programs. This includes the development of armor, blast attenuating seats, and other product technologies for ground vehicles, aircraft, and a wide variety of infrastructure security needs. The role also involves assisting with the procurement, building, and integration of developmental products, as well as testing which may include functional, ballistic, blast, and/or drop tower testing. Additionally, the Product Engineer II will develop technical documents to support design reviews, testing, requirements tracking, and trade studies.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and detail new technologies and products using SolidWorks (50% of time)
Develop technical documents including design reviews, trade studies, and test plans/reports (20% of time)
Assist with product development procurement, building, and testing (10% of time)
Maintain legacy production products (10% of time)
Assist with bid and proposal efforts (10% of time)
Essential Skills
US Citizenship
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher
Five to ten years of experience in product development
Highly proficient with SolidWorks
Expert understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drawing and tolerance standards
Strong work ethic, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to operate SolidWorks with no ramp-up time
Experience with mechanism design and interworking metal components
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher
Certified SolidWorks Professional
Experience with DoD product development related to ground combat, marine, and aircraft platforms
Over three years of experience with composite materials
Work Environment
The manufacturing, design, and testing are conducted at the same location in Arizona. The work environment involves working closely with team members across different functions, ensuring a collaborative approach to product development. The role requires wearing multiple hats, from design and CAD drafting to testing and working with manufacturing for design for manufacturability (DFM)
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.08 - $50.48/hr.
