Carver County Public Safety Telecommunicator (911 Dispatcher) in Chaska, Minnesota
Under the direction of the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Supervisor, the Public Safety Telecommunicator performs skilled technical communications work in the operation of the 911 Telephone System and the PSAP Communication Center. Work involves the exercise of independent judgment in receiving and transmitting law enforcement, fire, medical and other emergency services information by radio, telephone, and computer and determining what actions are necessary based on the call. The Emergency Dispatch Center is a 24/7/365 operation. This position requires the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays and be adaptive to shift work. An example of the likely schedule is below: Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Week 1 Night Shift off 6 pm-6 am 8 pm-6 am off off 6 pm-6 am 6 pm-6 am Week 2 Night Shift 8 pm-6 am off off 6 pm-6 am 6 pm-6 am off off The full pay range for this position is $27.63 - $41.45 per hour. Starting pay for this position is $30.68 per hour. Candidates with relevant 911 Dispatcher experience may be eligible for elevated rates of pay based on review of qualifications. 911 Dispatchers are paid a weekend differential of $1.00 per hour for each hour worked from Midnight Saturday through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. A 911 Dispatcher working a majority of hours between 3:00 PM and 6:00 AM will also be paid a night shift differential of one dollar and twenty-five cents ($1.25) per hour.
