Actalent Assistant Project Manager in Chicago, Illinois

Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Chicago based residential builder is looking for an assistant project manager to work on high-profile homes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the project schedule

  • Review project plans and specifications, and comment on building design, scheduling, and cost-saving measures

  • Assist in creating the project budget

  • Assemble the job site office and equipment requirements

  • Communicate effectively with the design team and clients

  • Lead trades confidently

  • Expedite reviews of all shop drawings and approvals

  • Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule and budget using integrated construction management software

  • Create meeting agendas and attend job site meetings to review the project status

  • Prepare and issue minutes of all site meetings

  • Inform the Project Manager of any errors, discrepancies, or omissions in the Consultant’s design drawings

  • Create and execute project change orders, and maintain current change order logs

  • Manage subcontractor agreements

  • Monitor site safety and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act

  • Issue monthly progress draws and invoicing to consultants and clients, including final holdbacks as required

  • Track daily logs on projects

  • Manage communications and scheduling with high-rise building managements

  • Maintain and enforce construction standards and quality control

  • Lead field labor teams to efficiently complete work on site

  • Maintain control and responsibility for the security and operation of directly owned equipment on the job site

  • Control and monitor labor, material, and equipment expenses

Essential Skills

  • 1-2 years of experience in project management, construction, and construction management

  • US accredited college/university degree or study concentration in a construction-related field preferred

  • Experience in luxury residential construction

  • Knowledge of construction management, RFI, change orders, project coordination, and engineering

  • Understanding of construction terms, scheduling, and planning concepts

  • Ability to accurately read and comprehend plans, details, and specifications

  • Proficiency in construction management software (Viewpoint)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project

  • Excellent organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Must be local- this role is almost 100% on site
