Begin your career working with some of the top civil engineering experts in the industry. Burgess & Niple is looking for a summer 2025 Civil Engineering Intern, Municipal Infrastructure to join our team in Columbus.
B&N Civil Engineer Intern, Municipal Infrastructure Responsibilities:
- Work with experienced engineers on a wide variety of utility infrastructure design and field services
- Be responsible for design tasks that could include technical design or analysis of storm sewers, waterlines, sanitary sewer rehabilitation projects from initial planning and assessment reports through detailed design, construction inspection and cost estimation
- Assist with field data collection via flow monitoring, smoke & dye testing, inspections and CCTV work for various municipality and city improvement projects in Ohio
- Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc. (Perform computations by substituting numbers in specific formulas, plot data, draw simple curves and graphs)
- Get involved as part of the project team through both office and field assignments
Skills and Qualifications:
- You are a current student in good academic standing pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering in an ABET accredited program and have completed at least one year of your undergraduate degree
- Strong interest in utility infrastructure design projects; previous internships are a plus
- Excellent communication skills and detail-oriented
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel), Civil 3D and ArcGIS preferred
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Enjoy working outdoors and getting hands on experience with underground utilities
