CTG's premier client has a contract assignment for an Electrical Engineer II.

Location : Corning, NY

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Corning, NY

Pay Rate : Based on experience

Work Hours : Standard work hours are M-F 7:30-4:00, however, on-call and weekend work may be required for project work and electrical shutdowns when necessary.

Education : BSEE or BSEET degree with a focus on electrical power and power distribution

Description:

This position is in the Electrical & Controls Engineering Department within the Workplace Services Division (WPS) and is focused on delivering reliable electrical distribution to the customers of the WPS Division to enable research, development, and engineering programs in support of the Innovation process. The Electrical Engineer II will be responsible for troubleshooting, process improvement, new equipment installation, and documentation of electrical infrastructure and process equipment.

Major Responsibilities:

• Learn & understand electrical infrastructure & equipment functions in area of responsibility.

• Assist in troubleshooting electrical infrastructure equipment, systems, and processes to ensure uninterrupted customer supply.

• Develop and use project plans and timelines to achieve project goals without sacrificing safety, intellectual property, or quality.

• Work with Quality and Engineering teams to document repairs/changes made to equipment and/or electrical infrastructure.

• Identify critical spare parts to have on-hand to prevent extended downtime.

• Participate in required PPA’s and electrical shutdowns.

• Assist in troubleshooting to the component level.

• Collaborate with union trades, subcontractors, and various organizational levels.

• Take initiative to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.

• Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to medium voltage electrical infrastructure systems.

• Adherence to plant safety requirements, OSHA, NFPA, and NEC guidelines as applicable.

• Safety glasses, safety-toed shoes, hard hat, fire-retardant clothing, hearing protection, and clean room attire required in applicable areas.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• BSEE or BSEET degree with a focus in electrical power and power distribution.

• Understand regulations applicable to area of expertise and work to ensure compliance (NEC, NFPA, etc.).

• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD.

• Co-Op and/or intern experience dealing with electrical infrastructure equipment and troubleshooting.

• Ability to use electrical test meters, PCs, and/or schematics to troubleshoot electrical equipment/infrastructure.

• Proficient with MS Office applications.

• Must have 2+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer with an emphasis on electrical power and power distribution.

• Displays a bias for action in situations of uncertainty with proactive attention to issues and problems.

• Translates engineering solutions to requirements, then further to process and/or equipment designs that deliver all required performance criteria.

• Determines and recommends the best solution from a series of alternatives within site specifications.

• Thoroughly carries out assignments to completion.

• Works well in a team environment, is a "self-starter," and is "results-oriented."

• Communicates effectively in various settings to provide and present necessary information to Project, Department, and Site leaders.

Travel Requirements:

• Minimal (0-5%).
