The incumbent is responsible for representing the Department of Social Services at Family Court, Supreme Court, Surrogate Court, and City Court in the following areas, Child Welfare, Temporary Assistance, Medical Assistance, Adult Protective, and Persons in Need of Supervision, Juvenile Delinquency, Support Enforcement and other related social services programs. Supervision may be exercised over the work of attorneys and subordinate staff. The work is performed under the supervision of the Commissioner of Social Services and in accordance to established laws and rules. Does related work as required. Work Hours: Full Time, 35 hours per week with benefitsSalary: $100,000-$115,000/yr. Once the incumbent is admitted to the New York State Bar, the incumbent also serves as legal counsel in the Department of Social Services (DSS). This involves representing the Department at Family Court, Supreme Court, Surrogate Court, and City Court in the following areas: Child Welfare, Temporary Assistance, Medical Assistance, Adult Protective, Persons in Need of Supervision, Juvenile Delinquency, Support Enforcement and other related social services programs. The work is assigned by and performed under the direct and general supervision, as required, of a Chief Social Services Attorney. Supervision may be exercised over the work of subordinate staff.
