Job Summary

Based in our manufacturing centre of excellence here in East Cowes, on the beautiful Isle of Wight, we have an exciting opportunity available for an Industrial Engineer (Digitalisation and Visualisation) to join a growing team that are focused on manufacturing digitalisation. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise at a local project level for operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilising engineering and problem solving skills. Accountable for delivering robust, capable technology such as visual dashboards, condition monitoring of equipment with potential to work on automation projects and software implementation to aid operations. Responsibilities will include leading various projects through gate life cycles to project completion

Job Responsibilities

  • Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.

  • Technical expertise at a local project level in governance and deployment of manufacturing development and integration for production within GKN Aerospace.

  • Breaks down technical problems, risk, opportunities, in the correct order to create products and add value to GKN Aerospace through creating Zero Defects

  • Leads positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers

  • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.

  • Provide local project technical oversight for industrial engineering support of manufacturing process development and integration for production through:

  • Implement the global business process for industrial layout solutions, from original concept through to production. Design these processes implementing lean tools and methods in accordance with the GKN standard lean tool suite.

  • Manage industrialisation projects, leading both internal and external (vendor) resources

Job Qualifications

Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential

  • Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification / background (university degree) in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical).

  • Significant previous work experience in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Project / Program Management experience

  • Fluent in English language, both written and spoken

    Desirable

  • Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent

  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs)

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructures

  • Detailed knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
