Job Description: Software Engineer positions offered by NetApp, Inc. (Cranberry Township, PA). Perform software engineering for data storage systems software and networking systems. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions with respect to the design and development of products that allow NetApp systems to interoperate in a highly scalable multi-protocol environment. Design and implement networking and data storage systems software. Participate in systems software development problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors and technical skills in the areas of software development lifecycle, software design, data storage, Linux, Unix, data structures, algorithms, debugging, script development, C, C++, C#, Java, Shell, and Perl. Receiving little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments, perform all aspects of data storage systems software design and development, including definition of initial functional requirements, design, implementation, validation, and product evolution activities. As a seasoned, experienced software engineering professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, network with senior internal and external software development and test engineers in the development and testing of next-generation storage operating systems. Write functional and design specifications and support software post-release. Position based in Cranberry Township, PA; telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy but must live within commuting distance from noted office.
Minimum Requirements: The position requires a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in computer science, information technology, computer information systems, electrical engineering, engineering or a related technical field and five years of experience in the job offered or in software development, software quality assurance, or software testing. Will accept a master's degree in lieu of two years of stated experience. Stated experience must include software development lifecycle or software design or data storage; Linux or Unix; data structures or algorithms; debugging or script development; and at least one of the following: C, C++, C#, Java, Shell, or Perl. Position based in Cranberry Township, PA; telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy but must live within commuting distance from noted office.
