Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position serves as the MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR I- SES and works under the general supervision of the MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT I- SES, position #64029683, over seeing the custodial staff, operations, equipment and supplies at all Florida Department of Health facilities located throughout Volusia County.
Managing custodial crews
Determine work requirements at the beginning each shift
Assign crew members to complete tasks
Ensure task are being performed correctly and to standards
Assist crew members in completing their daily task if needed
Altering working hours if necessary to ensure daily task are complete
Perform periodic site visits to all sites to ensure work is completed and is to department standards
Office Duties
Create and maintain job descriptions for custodial staff
Conduct interviews of candidates for custodial positions
Monitor and maintain SDS books for chemicals used for cleaning
Review and approve time records of direct reports
Training
Train new hire and existing custodial staff in proper methods for completing task efficiently
Ensure all staff members know how and when to use proper PPE for each task requiring it
Altering work hours if necessary to train staff members
Train all staff members on the proper use of custodial equipment
Equipment
Maintain custodial equipment
Ensure custodial equipment is operating correctly
Miscellaneous
Inventory stock levels of material and supplies used daily by custodial staff
Order materials and supplies and receive shipments when they arrive
Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to perform physical activities that require: Climbing, Lifting 50 pounds, Balancing
Ability to follow written or oral instructions from supervisor
Ability to perform routine custodial duties
Knowledge of materials, methods and tools needed for custodial work
Qualifications:
Minimum -

Must have knowledge of materials, methods and tools needed for custodial work
Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in custodial work or custodial supervisory work in a professional environment
Must be a current Florida Department of Health employee, in a Selected Exempt Service (SES), Career Service (CS), or Other Personal Services (OPS) position
Preferred -
Experience in working in custodial in a health care facility
Experience supervising other custodians
