What you'll do...

Lead the design and release, selection, and validation of adhesive materials for cell stack systems inside the high voltage battery

Collaborate with cross functional component engineers and adhesive suppliers to identify adhesive formulations, application techniques, and bonding processes to ensure adhesive joints withstand vehicle and customer usage conditions and failure modes

Closely collaborate with battery manufacturing team members to validate production processes

Collaborate with battery manufacturing teams to optimize surface preparation processes while minimizing curing stations and fixture requirements

Release adhesive joints for production by authoring Engineering Specifications for those joints

Capture lessons learned about adhesives and publish those learnings into design guides and design rules

Develop analytical validation techniques for the adhesive interfaces. Correlate the analytical tests with bench tests and vehicle tests.

Develop bench and battery level tests to validate adhesives and joint performance

Develop and Release engineering documents (Boundary Diagrams, DFMEAs, Interface Matrices) for the adhesive joint system

Build and develop relationships with the adhesive supply base technical leaders

You'll have...

Bachelor’s degree required: Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with application and D&R experience.

Experience with the design and release of Pumpable, sprayable, or Pressure Sensitive Adhesives

Experience with surface preparation methods, systems, and adhesive dispensing systems.

Strong knowledge of automotive Systems Engineering principles.

Team oriented, strong communication & presentation skills.

Strong drive for results under operational pressures.

Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks

Even better, you may have...

3+ years automotive adhesive engineering experience

Experience with high temperature adhesive interfaces

Previous electrified vehicle launch experience

Working knowledge of high voltage automotive systems

Working knowledge of CATIA, 3DX and CAE analysis tools

Knowledge of traditional fastener validation processes and GD+T standards
