The Durability & Engine System Dynamics CAE Supervisor is responsible for coordinating engineering resources to deliver CAE results and design recommendations for all ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) mounted related systems/sub-systems & components. Daily responsibilities include:
Managing analysis requests for the two distinct CAE teams (Durability & ESD) in supporting Powerpack teams, Core TSs, Quality organization, R&A, etc.
Planning/coordinating kick-off meetings with Powerpack, Core TS, Quality, R&A, etc.
Tracking project status, ensuring required confirmations/validations are completed in timely fashion to support program milestones/gateways.
Discuss/review project status during weekly TDRM forum.
Define training needs for each CAE team member for the year and track progress in ensuring all corporate and IPTSE objectives are met
Conduct performance review discussions for team members per Ford Performance + processes
Maintain process discipline.
Attend IPTSE staff and department meetings.
Support various Tech Club forums/reviews (Durability, ESD, Cranktrain, Cylinder Head, etc.) on as needed basis.
Hold regular team/section meetings to cascade pertinent organizational information to the CAE team.
Participate in weekly IPTSE CAE TDRM. Promote participation, manage topics, follow ups, and drive the agenda.
Collaborate with all supporting organizations/functions (ICE, EPD, R&A, Quality, etc.) to identify new and updated methodologies or tools that can further improve component/systems design.
Maintain clear communication with IPTSE Functional teams and replicate best practices across IPTSE functions.
Develop Core CAE Annual training plan and ensure training budget expenditure.
Provide direction and support to engineers and obtain necessary resources to support issue resolution.
Assist, coach and mentor at all levels of the organization.
Ensure people processes are followed, delivered robustly and in a timely fashion.
Track objectives progress, maintain employee profiles, conduct performance reviews and develop succession plan.
Coordinate CAE departs purchased service budget via IPTSE Business Office
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
7+ years of experience in a combination of CAE, design of engine components/systems, Calibration &/or related automotive background
Good understanding of Solid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Fluid Mechanics
Experience in using/applying CAE methods, tools, and software
Familiarity/experience with CATIA, ABAQUS, FEMFAT, AVL Excite, Realis Valdyn, Hyperworks/Hypermesh, nCode, iSight, MATLAB
Previous D&R experiences preferred
Demonstrated leadership skill
Demonstrated project management skill
Good communication skill
