Veritiv Operating Co Equipment Service Technician in Denver, Colorado
Our Equipment Service Technician will be responsible for installing and repairing worn or defective equipment at customer sites by following blueprints, manufacturer's instructions and utilizing knowledge of mechanical hydraulic and electrical machinery. This position will also operate equipment through trial runs to ensure that quality and rate of production meet specifications.
Job Responsibilities: Perform repair, maintenance and start up on stretch wrappers, shrink wrappers, case sealing, case erectors, label printer/applicators, strapping equipment and assorted products at customer and Veritiv company sites Support systems integration with customers, manufacturers, suppliers and other service personnel involving machine problems and/or turn-key systems. Perform a variety of sophisticated electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulics and electro-mechanical tests, repair and maintenance on equipment, assemblies, sub-assemblies and parts to ensure the equipment functions according to the manufacturer's specifications. Conduct setup calibration, testing, mechanical assemblies and troubleshooting of circuits, components and instruments using moderately complex blueprints and electrical schematics. Provide subject matter expertise, trainings and product demonstrations of Veritiv packaging systems and related equipment if needed. Generate quotes and estimates for preventative and planned maintenance of machines. Complete field service work orders including billing of travel, labor hours, parts and other related items in a timely and accurate manner.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications: Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, electrical symbols and how power flows through circuitry. Understand and demonstrate proper lockout/tagout and safety procedures. Can install, troubleshoot, train and work on most equipment including semi-automatic equipment. Ability to read and interpret pneumatic, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical drawings for complex installation and troubleshooting equipment sold by Veritiv. Understand AC and DC voltages and can use an electric meter in troubleshooting scenarios Troubleshooting skills - diagnosing and troubleshooting micro-logic device, electrical, pneumatic and PLC Ladder logic. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) skills - can write simple logic, interface basic equipment and can make simple program changes. Has successfully attended a formal PLC training. Certifications from manufacturer trainings on stretch wrappers, shrink wrappers, case sealers, case erectors , label printers and strapping equipment or related products a plus. 3+ years working in a service support organization.
Must possess valid driver's license and have clean driving record. Some overnight travel required, including long distance driving and air travel.
Salary Range: $65,000 - $71,000
Work Experience: 5-10 years of related job experience. Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment. Ability to work quickly and efficiently. A thorough understanding of distribution management (customer service, sales, purchasing, warehouse, credit, information systems, and logistics) that is preferably from a large, national, or decentralized organiza Basic experience of simple office/operational systems. Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong planning and organization skills are required.
Education: High School Diploma/GED Preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Must lift and handle parts up to 75 pounds. Must work in industrial environments, including working on ladders and lifts at high elevation, as well as low elevations such as underneath equipment Must work in variety of settings, including fast-paced industrial and food production environments.
