Job Profile Summary
This position supervises pharmacy technicians, technician trainees, and supportive personnel and supports pharmacy leadership in directing technical and operational functions of the pharmacy. The incumbent provides leadership, education, training, and guidance for pharmacy caregivers and supportive personnel. The incumbent participates in the hiring, onboarding, scheduling, evaluation, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. The incumbent prepares schedules and organizes technician coverage to ensure departmental needs are consistently met. This position ensures excellence in the technical aspects of pharmacy practice. This position supports Pharmacy Services in all care locations (i.e., acute, community, ambulatory and specialty). The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor must directly lead at least 7 pharmacy caregivers
Essential Functions
Leads and manages a group of pharmacy technicians in area of practice.
Provides extraordinary experiences to support patients, pharmacists, pharmacy learners, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals in areas of responsibility.
Communicates effectively with caregivers and stakeholders regarding responsibilities and identified concerns.
Maintains competence in technical responsibilities assigned and seeks appropriate training and feedback as needed.
Understands and complies with all state and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and guidelines related to their specific area of practice.
Participates and supports financial responsibilities of the department, facility, and Intermountain Health.
Ensures delivery of medications, information, and services in a professional, timely manner.
Actively engages in department and team goals, activities, and projects.
Ensures appropriate supervision and accuracy checks by the pharmacist(s). Clearly understands and directs others when a pharmacist is required to verify tasks and activities.
Participates in quality improvement activities and seeks a team approach to developing and achieving best practices and processes.
Teaches and demonstrates positive interactions, professionalism, collaborative working environments, and excellence in pharmacy technician practice. Mentors and holds reporting technicians accountable to the same standards.
Responsible for departmental human resource functions including hiring, terminating, onboarding, scheduling, payroll approval evaluation, completing check-ins, and performance management under the guidance of pharmacy department leadership. Prepares schedules and organizes technician coverage to ensure departmental needs are consistently met.
Reviews, develops, implements, and ensures accountability for compliance with policies, procedures, protocols, and processes, as well as positive working relationships.
Maintains all appropriate training materials and documentation of skills.
Actively participates in and develops quality, patient safety, and efficiency improvement projects and initiatives engaging staff and leadership as appropriate.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service-oriented environment.
Competent in understanding and usage of computers and software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google. Ability to learn new applications relevant to the position.
Qualifications
High School or equivalent is required
Current pharmacy technician certification or license applicable to state of practice.
and -
Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or EXCPT or other certifying board and successful registration/certification/licensure with the state of practice as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (not "in-training" or "provisional")
Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of approved drugs, controlled substances, and investigational agents (where applicable).

Must have 3 years of experience working as a pharmacy technician.
Any lapse or failure to meet these requirements may result in disciplinary action, up to termination, at the hiring manager's discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous leadership experience.
Epic EMR experience.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$28.90 - $43.99
