Job Title: Staff Environmental Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer to join our experienced team in Bloomington, MN. This on-site position involves working 32 hours per week, with the possibility of lower hours in some weeks. The role requires travel between 10% to 30%, and the selected candidate must have a valid Driver's License to use a personal or rental vehicle. The position is eligible for a flex 9/80 schedule after the initial traditional schedule, subject to managerial approval. The Staff Environmental Engineer will engage in a variety of site investigation and remediation projects for federal clients.
Responsibilities
Perform safety, project, and task management duties on environmental, remediation, and CCR projects, including PFAS and CCR projects.
Prepare environmental investigation work plans, reports, and other documentation.
Solicit and contract subcontractors, schedule, and manage field activities involving staff and subcontractors.
Execute and guide environmental site assessments, including subsurface soil and groundwater sampling, air and vapor monitoring, and monitoring well installation.
Assist in the assessment of corrective measures and remediation system design and operation, including in-situ remedies, cover systems, and recovery and treatment.
Work closely with project teams and field personnel to complete and review projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
Mentor and delegate tasks to junior staff.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related engineering field from an accredited program (ABET accredited).
Minimum of 3 years of related experience (8 years strongly preferred) in environmental investigations and remedial actions.
Strong safety culture and prioritization of safety for all employees, with compliance to safety protocols and standards.
Experience in environmental field activities such as soil and groundwater sampling, soil boring logging, construction materials testing, and monitoring well installation.
Ability to analyze data, summarize results, and write technical reports.
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and annual updates (strongly recommended).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Previous consulting and construction quality assurance experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license or plans to obtain one.
Experience investigating coal combustion residuals (CCR) at regulated facilities (strongly preferred).
Proficiency in navigating regulations and working knowledge of State and/or Federal regulations in the Mid-Atlantic/Southeastern US.
Self-motivation and ability to multi-task, including writing reports, analyzing data, and performing design tasks.
Work Environment
There is no remote or hybrid work opportunity. The job requires travel between 10% to 30%. The selected candidate must work a traditional schedule initially, with the possibility of requesting a flex 9/80 schedule at the manager's discretion. The work environment involves field activities and the use of personal or rental vehicles for travel. The dress code is business casual with appropriate safety gear for fieldwork.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $47.25
