UPMC Histology Lab Technician in Erie, Pennsylvania

We’re looking for candidates with HT or HTL certification or prior histology experience. A background in Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, or Forensics is also a great fit. In this role, there is the opportunity to -
Conduct QC checks at each stage of tissue processing and staining.
Process, prepare, and embed surgical and autopsy tissue specimens according to specific protocols.
Comply with UPMC and departmental policies, procedures, and work practices.
Perform ancillary tasks such as filing, cleaning, and stocking supplies.
Assist with additional duties and assignments as directed by lab leadership.
Prepare slides for microtomy using barcode labels to ensure correct patient identification.
Support the academic mission of the department through active engagement.
Maintain laboratory instruments by following quality control specifications and daily protocols.
Required
High school diploma
1 year of clinical laboratory experience OR 1 year of experience through training in a laboratory either on the job or through a vocational school
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Histology Technician (HT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is preferred.
