Actalent Medical Assistant in Fairfield, Connecticut

Job Title: Medical AssistantJob Description

An opportunity to join a caring and compassionate medical support team in a busy outpatient care center. You will be responsible for working collaboratively with physicians and advanced practitioners to ensure patients are provided with the most comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients, obtain information for patient charts, and accurately document using Epic EMR.

  • Update patient's medical history including an updated medication list.

  • Document all patient phone calls accurately and inform patients of test results under the direction and guidance of the provider.

  • Familiarity with the prior authorization process.

  • Ask appropriate triage questions when speaking with patients and record them accurately in Epic.

  • Schedule office visits, confirm appointments, update patient insurance and demographic information, and answer incoming calls while documenting utilizing Epic EMR.

  • Compose, process, and follow up on electronic phone messages and alerts.

  • Answer quick questions using EMR which are appropriate for administrative staff.

  • Process insurance authorizations when required.

  • Monitor the schedule of assigned providers, noting and correcting errors as appropriate.

Essential Skills

  • Graduated from an accredited MA Program (if not certified, must be prepared to complete certification within 6 months of joining the team).

  • At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience.

  • Broad knowledge of medical terminology with at least 1 year of healthcare experience.

  • Experience utilizing EMR systems; Epic experience is a plus.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • GI experience is a huge plus.

  • Medical office experience is required.

  • Warm and inviting demeanor.

  • Ability to take initiative to ensure all patients are taken care of and work is getting done.

  • Good team-player attitude.

Work Environment

Busy outpatient GI medical center with 7 providers. The office is very clean and no procedures are conducted on-site; all procedures are performed at another surgery center site. The schedule is Monday to Friday with 8-hour shifts, and you should be open to working between the hours of 8 am-6 pm and expect to show up 15 minutes early for each shift. This role requires a warm and caring approach towards patients, providing top-notch patient care.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.32/hr.
