Job Description
The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking an engineering student co-op who is looking to gain hands on experience.
In this role, you will primarily work closely with the District 5 (southeast Iowa) Right of Way Land Survey Department and other District staff, performing boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. You will be working with Real Time Kinematic Global Positioning Systems, and a robotic total station for field data collection.
You will have the opportunity to be introduced to Bentley Open Roads Designer CADD, survey research including U.S.P.L.S. corner certificates, deeds, plats of survey, subdivision plats, and highway plans from various agencies. Other duties may include working with the Assistant District Engineer and/or District Design Engineers in the design and preparation of MP and 3R project plans for letting, preparing concept statements, participating in field exams/reviews, and reviewing highway construction projects in the field.
Duration : May-December; 40 hours/week
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Completion of at least two years in engineering at an accredited four-year college or university with eligibility for junior status upon return to school or completion of at least one year in land surveying at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
