City of Fife Aquatics Leader 3 in Fife, Washington
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Parks, Recreation & Aquatics Director, this position is responsible for assisting in the implementation of and supervision of activities, programs, staff, and special events at the Fife Aquatic Center. The Aquatics Leader 3 will act in a lead role and will assist in giving direction to Aquatics Leader 2, Aquatics Leader 1, and lifeguard/swim instructor positions. Must maintain flexibility and be available to meet with supervisory staff as required. Hours of work vary and include evenings and weekends. This position reports directly to the Assistant Parks, Recreation & Aquatics Director. Anticipated schedule is Fridays & Saturdays: 6:30 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m. and Sundays 6:30 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Any single position may not be assigned all duties listed below, nor do the examples cover all the duties that may be assigned. Each Aquatics Leader 3 will be assigned to a program supervisor and will be responsible for those duties that apply.
- Site leads Swim Lessons as assigned.
- Assists in facilitating special projects and programs with staff and community partners.
- Supervises activities at Aquatic Center.
- Assists with the leadership of PT staff and program participants.
- Attends and assists in all staff meetings as required.
- Communicates feedback between participants and program supervisor.
- Prepares necessary documentation.
- Performs cashier and front desk reception responsibilities.
- Answers public questions regarding programs and facilities.
- Monitors the maintenance of equipment, supplies, and facilities.
- Maintains compliance with all applicable City, County, and State laws and City ordinances, policies, and procedures at all times.
- Performs minor maintenance / custodial duties.
- Performs facility opening and closing responsibilities.
- Utilizes REC1 software system to process program registrations, "point-of-sale" transactions, and updating of client/patron accounts.
- Meets regularly with the program supervisor.
- Assists with conducting staff meetings.
- Develops and maintains a positive and supportive staff team.
- Inventory control of first aid, janitorial supplies, and office equipment.
- Mentors new lifeguards and swim instructors.
- Assists in evaluating staff.
- Assists in conducting in-service training.
- Performs duties as a swim instructor.
- Performs duties as a lead lifeguard.
- Performs and records pool chemical testing.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience Required Qualifications:
- Minimum four years related experience.
- Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, Blood-Borne pathogens, AED, and Lifeguard Training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- WSI or Swim America Certified.
- Lifeguard Instructor Trainer.
- AFO or CPO certification.

Independently initiate and complete work activities.
Ability to work with participants and city staff, teens, and co-workers from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
