City Of Fort Lupton Lifeguard in Fort Lupton, Colorado
Starting pay range: $15.42 - $18.50 per hour
Under direction, performs safety and recreational work supervising, swimming and enforcing regulations at the municipal pool.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned. Observes and patrols pool and enforces safety regulations. Assists swimmers from water when in danger. Performs resuscitation and first aid, when appropriate. Maintains the cleanliness of the facility. Performs minor and routine maintenance work on pool equipment. Assists with testing chemical levels. Supports swim lesson when necessary. Attends training as required for continued education and meetings as required by supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements BASIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND/OR ABILITY TO LEARN: Knowledge of the policies, procedures and goals of the City of Fort Lupton and the department. Knowledge of the principles and practices of water safety. Knowledge of principles and practices of effective customer service. Knowledge of aquatics facilities and equipment used in aquatics programs. Skill in performing life-saving and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) activities. Skill in maintaining a variety of records related to aquatics program operations. Ability to accurately test chemical levels of pools and adding or adjusting chemicals to maintain proper chemical balance. Ability to react quickly and accurately in emergency situations. Ability to diagnose problems, arranges and assists with maintenance and repairs, and ensures the ongoing safety of aquatics facility. Ability to listen well and communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, community members and the general public.

LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION: American Red CPR-Professional Rescuer American Red Cross Lifeguard Training AED
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, swim, rescue, bend, kneel, stoop, squat, twist, push, pull, jump, climb, reach, talk, hear, and see. The employee is also required to frequently perform light to heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs.

GUIDANCE AND DECISION MAKING: Procedures, methods and techniques to be used are well established with options to be considered well defined. Tools, work aids and materials to be used are specified. Work steps are demonstrated or made clear by straightforward oral instructions. Detailed oral and/or written instructions are normally given during the training period. Work steps involve a pattern of sequential motions such as push, pull, lift, carry or place which may include making gross discriminations as to size, color or readily observable conditions. Duties assigned are primarily routine, repetitive and restricted in intricacy with little or no discretion in how they are carried out.
