Zachary Confections, Inc. Quality Control Technician in Frankfort, Indiana

We are currently in the search for a 2nd Shift Quality Control Technician to join our team. Quality Control Technicians are responsible for many aspects of food quality and safety at Zachary Confections.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Daily startup checks of scales, metal detectors, product codes, and tare weights
- Take daily line samples of liquid coating from enrobers and depositors
- Take finished product line samples throughout the day to obtain a composite sample from each line
- Strict adherence to GMPs. All samples handled aseptically
- Take floor swab samples from each department daily
- Conduct QC checks on finished product to monitor weights and candy/package appearance
- Verify change-over/line clearance paperwork
- Complete case checks
- Inspect and sample incoming critical materials
- Assure specifications are met before shipments are accepted
- Receive bulk liquid loads
- Submit samples to outside labs for appropriate analysis. Keep back-up samples for QC lab
- Maintain files on samples tested
- Perform varied in-house analysis
- Take daily water readings. Sample and submit wastewater samples
- Pull starch samples from mogul
- Flavor lab duties
- Isolate extraneous material found in products, inform departments involved and maintain a record of events
- Issue Hold and Approved tickets on materials under QC managers direction
- Maintain close communication with QC manager. Report and document any observations involving quality issues
Qualifications:
- Good mathematical skills
- Good written/verbal communication skills
- Familiar with using a computer
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and possess ability to maintain up-to-date records and files
- Ability to work independently after training
- Must have and maintain excellent attendance
- Position will include some mandatory weekend and overtime work, as well as off-shift work when necessary
