Job Summary

The Cyber Security Senior Engineer, as a member of the Cyber Security department, will design, develop, configure, and implement solutions to resolve intermediate to complex technical and business issues related to Cyber Security. The Cyber Security Senior Engineer will lead efforts to assess Cyber Security risks, identify vulnerabilities, and implement advanced mitigations to protect critical systems and data. This role involves reviewing and consulting on the security of technology solutions to address intermediate to high-level technical and business challenges, ensuring compliance with organizational standards. The Cyber Security Senior Engineer will also design, develop, and implement new processes and solutions, integrating them into existing or newly defined architecture and business processes. Providing support across multiple Cyber Security functions of intermediate to high complexity, the Cyber Security Senior Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for one or more technical solutions, offering guidance and leadership within the organization. Strong analytical, communication, and technical leadership skills are essential to excel in this role.

Essential Functions

  • Cyber Controls and Monitoring:

  • Leads the design, configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting of intermediate to complex cyber domain technologies and processes

  • Monitors and provides advanced insights into Cyber Security platforms, addressing intermediate to complex events.

  • Develops strategies to enhance Cyber Security controls, improving visibility and response to threats across healthcare assets.

  • Ensures security standards are aligned with NIST guidelines, including NIST 800-53, and drives compliance initiatives.

  • Process Improvement & Documentation:

  • Identifies inefficiencies in intermediate and complex processes and suggests impactful modifications.

  • Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation for processes, technologies, and solutions that improve team efficiency.

  • Participates in the design and documentation of security strategies and continuous improvement processes.

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

  • Works with departments and key stakeholders to develop and enhance security solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs.

  • Collaborates with Technology, Business, and Audit partners to address compliance risks and lead remediation of audit findings.

  • Provides mentorship and advanced technical guidance to associate-level engineers and enterprise teams, enhancing overall security practices.

  • Problem Solving & Incident Response:

  • Leads problem-solving efforts, root cause analysis, and resolution for intermediate to complex security issues.

  • Prioritizes and ensures timely resolution of incidents, even in fast-paced and complex project environments.

  • Provides 24x7 support for critical engineering events and leads incident (break/fix) response efforts.

  • Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Actively participates in the creation of Product/Capability Roadmaps, contributing to the strategic development of Cyber Security initiatives.

  • Serves as a SME for multiple intermediate and complex security solutions, offering guidance across the organization.

  • Soft Skills & Communication:

  • Communicates effectively with management, stakeholders, and external partners, ensuring transparency and collaboration.

  • Demonstrates strong leadership in managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Systems (or other related field) or equivalent work experience preferred

  • 4-6 years Cyber Security, Technology or other related experience required

  • 5-7 years Cyber Security, Technology or other related experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Technical Expertise & Problem Solving:

  • Advanced ability to design and implement solutions for complex, multifunctional technical problems with minimal oversight.

  • Expertise in identifying, troubleshooting, and proactively solving advanced issues, as well as mentoring junior team members in technical problem-solving.

  • In-depth knowledge of security principles, techniques, and implementations across multiple Cyber Security domains, with an ability to lead initiatives.

  • Extensive experience with technologies such as Endpoint Protection, Logging and Monitoring, and Network and Cloud Security, with the ability to recommend improvements and innovations.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the systems development lifecycle, capable of leading technical efforts and providing leadership on highly complex projects.

  • Communication & Collaboration:

  • Proficient in translating complex technical concepts into terms understandable by non-technical audiences, including upper management and external stakeholders.

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective interaction with staff, senior management, and external business partners.

  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams, balance security controls with business requirements, and promote consensus-building.

  • Demonstrates leadership in people management, mentoring junior staff, and participating in negotiations or presentations at the organizational level.

  • Regulatory & Industry Knowledge:

  • Basic awareness of laws, regulations, and standards in the healthcare industry or other regulated sectors, with the ability to follow established compliance guidelines.

  • Exposure to working in structured, process-driven environments, with eagerness to participate in process optimization activities under supervision.

  • Willingness to learn about industry-specific compliance and regulatory frameworks, actively seeking to improve knowledge through training and mentorship.

  • Work Quality & Professional Development:

  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities, effectively prioritizing tasks and leading projects in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

  • Highly motivated toward continuous professional development, regularly pursuing advanced certifications, skills, and leadership opportunities.

  • Ensures the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive work while managing complex projects, maintaining high standards across multiple tasks.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Industry certifications such as:Security+, GSEC, SSCP, CISM, CISSP, GIAC, OSCP, or ITIL Certifications preferred
