Job Summary
The Senior Director, Nursing Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for nursing services across CHS corporate and affiliate locations. This role supports the Vice President, Nursing Operations and Senior Vice President/CNE by driving performance improvement initiatives, advancing nursing processes, and managing performance metrics. The Senior Director collaborates with corporate, regional, and hospital leaders to implement nursing strategies, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and enhance patient care delivery. This position requires travel to CHS-affiliated locations.
Essential Functions
Implements nursing initiatives to enhance patient care delivery, align with organizational goals, and improve nursing performance metrics.
Collaborates with corporate and regional leaders to evaluate staffing and productivity, recommending and implementing adjustments as needed.
Analyzes operational and clinical data to identify trends and variances, providing actionable insights to drive improvements.
Oversees the development, deployment, and evaluation of nursing onboarding, orientation, and competency programs.
Leads efforts to improve metrics related to capacity optimization, throughput, OB services, and surgical performance.
Partners with Nursing Informatics to implement technology-enabled solutions, such as virtual nursing services, enhanced EHR documentation, and optimized nursing workflows.
Works closely with HR to ensure successful onboarding and competency evaluation for senior nursing leaders (e.g., CNOs, ACNOs) and nurse directors.
Collaborates with Patient Safety, Nursing Regulatory, and Quality teams to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practices.
Supports the development and execution of nursing-related scorecards, ensuring alignment with safety and quality metrics.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or related field required
7-9 years of nursing operations with progressive nursing leadership experience required
2-4 years of previous CNO experience required

Demonstrates expertise in nursing operations, regulatory requirements, and healthcare industry standards.
Adapts quickly to evolving priorities and challenges, maintaining a focus on achieving organizational objectives.
Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
CENP - Certified in Executive Nursing Practice preferred or
NE-BC - Nurse Executive preferred
