Now Hiring - Safety and Environmental Program Manager

Pay Range: 90K-120K

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Safety and Environmental Program Manager to develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental programs, policies, and procedures. The role involves managing all safety compliance and risks applicable to the facility, providing strategic leadership, and ensuring ongoing compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure ongoing compliance, including all training and record-keeping activities.

  • Establish, implement, and sustain ISO standards and HSE Management System to assess and control HSE risk.

  • Conduct audits and inspections to identify system-level weaknesses and recommend solutions for corrective actions.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for third-party management systems audits and respond to audit findings.

  • Establish and maintain a contractor health, safety, and environmental program to manage risks associated with contractor activities on site.

  • Develop Emergency Response plans, conduct drills, and implement corrective actions.

  • Create and manage budgets related to safety and environmental programs.

  • Drive efforts to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing processes, including hazardous and solid waste minimization and reduced water and energy consumption.

  • Manage all requirements related to chemical management, including approvals, GHS compliant labeling, employee training, and proper disposition.

Essential Skills

  • 5 - 8 years of health, safety, and environment experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry.

  • Leadership experience in developing and driving initiatives.

  • Experience in preparing and delivering HSE training.

  • Proficiency in conducting audits, safety procedures, and inspections.

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards, ISO standards, and environmental regulatory compliance.

  • Strong skills in risk assessment and safety training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CSP, CIH, CHMM certifications preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, Business, or a closely related field strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of safety codes, OSHA 1910, EPA regulations, and other regulatory agencies.

  • Experience with Lean Problem Solving (8D/A3 tools), Incident Investigation, and Root Cause Analysis.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision. The noise level in the plant is usually moderate to high, and ear plugs may be required in some areas. Employees are required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses throughout the plant.

This is a Permanent position based out of Galesburg, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
