Description
The Liberal Studies Department (LIST) in the College of Marine Sciences & Maritime Studies at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time, non-tenure track position with a 5-month academic appointment beginning on January 2, 2026, with a 9-month academic appointment thereafter. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Instructional Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach four courses per semester in the required core curriculum that includes HIST 105, United States History to 1877 and HIST 106, History of the United States from 1877. In addition, the successful candidate will provide service to the department and the college.
The Department of Liberal Studies offers the Bachelor of Arts in Maritime Studies and the University Studies Degree with a concentration in Tourism and Coastal Community Development. Our faculty instruct in numerous academic disciplines, and we offer several minors that enhance any degree plan. With an overarching focus on the relationship between humans and the sea, our unique educational experiences help build the critical thinkers and leaders of tomorrow.

Offering hands-on training to over 400 cadets annually, the academy prepares students to earn a U.S. Coast Guard License and serve as maritime professionals, afloat and ashore, or enter military service upon graduation.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in History required, however, ABD applicants will also be considered with the expectation that the terminal degree will be conferred prior to the position start date.
Teaching experience in American History is preferred.
