County of Gaston Project Analyst in Gastonia, North Carolina

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to capital improvement projects, including budget forecasts, project timelines, and performance metrics.
  • Develop models and tools to assess project feasibility, financial impact, and return on investment.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, funding applications, and reports for stakeholders, including government agencies and community groups.
  • Collaborate with project managers to monitor project progress and provide analytical support for decision-making.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing project findings, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of project activities, financial transactions, and compliance with regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Capital Improvement Office and other departments, stakeholders, and external partners to facilitate effective communication.
  • Present analysis and project updates to internal teams and external stakeholders as required.
  • Conduct research on best practices in capital improvement project management and emerging trends in infrastructure development.
  • Assist in identifying potential funding sources and grant opportunities for capital improvement projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Finance, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in project analysis, financial analysis, or a related field is required.

A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered.

A Master's Degree and/or previous experience in a government or public sector environment is preferred. Experience in capital improvement projects, urban planning, or infrastructure development is highly desirable.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, statistical software, GIS) and project management software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
