Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Gallatin is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Human Resources Generalist. The HR Generalist may be assigned any combination of duties listed below as their primary responsibilities, to include but not limited to:

  • Recruiting/Employment/Compensation: Oversee external recruiting/hiring and internal posting/selection process for all full-time hourly and salary positions; screening candidates, maintaining applicant tracking system and documentation; workforce planning; ensuring compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act and other employment laws and governmental regulations; onboarding of new teammates; compensation administration; and maintaining organization structure in HRIS system.

  • Payroll: Oversee weekly payroll administration to include bonus payments and annual profit sharing; filing and paying weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually FICA, Federal, State, Local, FUTA and SUTA taxes; preparing weekly journal entries, reconciliations, wage types, garnishments, and hours reports; preparing and reconciling quarterly and annual reports; administering 401(k) to include loans, hardship withdrawals and roll overs; assisting with audits; and coordinating Nucor Stock Service Award and Educational Assistance programs.

  • Employee Relations: providing counsel and guidance to teammates and leadership team regarding policies, procedures, state/federal laws and regulatory compliance requirements; assisting with investigations, maintaining confidentiality and integrity of all data; and assisting with organizing company functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least three years of experience in human resources

  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations

  • No relatives currently employed at Nucor Steel Gallatin

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related field

  • Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment

  • SAP/SuccessFactors or HRIS software experience

  • Payroll (preparing, filing, reconciling State and Federal payroll taxes)

  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR certification
