Actalent Regulatory Specialist (Part Time) in Glenview, Illinois

Job Title: Part Time Regulatory Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Support the Regulatory Affairs Manager – Americas on regulatory items for cookies, crackers, and granolas.

  • Provide regulatory knowledge to project teams on labeling elements including nutrition panels, mandatory labeling elements, and claims.

  • Review and approve artwork related to technical regulatory labeling compliance.

  • Provide regulatory knowledge to technical teams on food safety regulations, pesticide regulations, and other areas of technical regulatory compliance.

  • Attend cross-functional project team meetings and lead/coordinate regulatory participation as needed.

  • Develop nutrition panels using Genesis software.

  • Manage and track nutrition analyses effectively (nutrition control plan) and manage the nutrition database.

  • Lead regulatory feasibility analysis for new categories/items.

  • Support special projects related to regulatory functions and industry initiatives as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge in food regulatory affairs, labeling, and compliance.

  • Experience with FDA regulations, food safety, and pesticide regulations.

  • Proficiency in Genesis software for developing nutrition panels.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work with overlapping deadlines.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong initiative, willingness to learn, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or completion of at least 2 years of degree) in Food Science or Nutrition preferred, other related majors also considered.

  • Experience related to food manufacturing and regulatory work is a plus.

  • Completion of, or currently taking, a US Food Regulations course is ideal.

  • Previous work developing nutrition panels (using Genesis or similar software) and maintaining a database is a plus.

  • Computational skills.

Work Environment

Initially, this is a part-time opportunity, between 15-20 hours a week, with a hybrid schedule. In-office days are Mondays and Wednesdays. If desired, there is an opportunity to transition into full-time hours and a permanent position.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $55.00/hr.
