City Of Glenwood Springs Maintenance Technician in Glenwood Springs, Colorado
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs semiskilled and skilled work in the care, maintenance, and improvements of all facilities.
POSITION REPORTS TO: Facilities Superintendent DIRECT REPORTS ASSIGNED: 0-1 JOB LOCATION: 101 West 8th Street, Glenwood Springs, CO or other location as assigned. FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt CATEGORY: Fulltime HOURS: 40 hours
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Over sees facility functions, opens, and closes facility as directed. 2. Receive instructions and technical advice from Facilities Superintendent 3. Assists with room set up and equipment set up for City Hall, Community Arts Center, general events. 4. Perform walk through inspections of facility and rooms, checks for damages, inventories all equipment, and provide maintenance recommendations for continued operations. 5. Report and respond to all maintenance and janitorial requests as needed. 6. Perform trash removal, cleaning in times of staff shortages. 7. Perform simple construction and repairs utilizing such skill as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC trouble shooting. 8. Assist city personnel and performs light construction. 9. Perform snow removal duties at various city facilities utilizing various machinery and hand tools. 10. Work with and direct contractors in capital projects and ongoing general maintenance.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS: Necessary: Must be at least 18 years of age or older. High School Diploma or GED. Valid Colorado driver's license with a good driving record. Two (2) years of general labor experience. Knowledge of landscape maintenance, plant care, irrigation, herbicide application, janitorial, and construction. Ability to obtain general knowledge in areas such as HVAC management, fire systems management, and water systems management. CPR/First Aid required within first 6 months of hire. Must be able to work independently or as a team. Requires working evenings, weekends, holidays, or other special hours for special events, seasonal weekend coverage, and may be used for on-call rotation for snow removal and construction management. Desired: Municipal, commercial, or property management operations experience desirable.
