SALARY: $67,000

 

STATUS: Full-time (12-month), Exempt

 

DEPARTMENT: Academics

 

LOCATION: Grand Rapids Lettinga Campus

 

REPORTS TO: Department Chair

 

SUMMARY:

 

The program director leads the Mental Health Counseling program and typically serves a dual role as a faculty member and as a faculty administrative role. The Program Director serves as the supervisor for adjunct faculty assigned to the Mental Health Counseling program. The Program Director ensures the implementation of university policies at the program level such as program review, annual assessment, and others. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Program Director-Mental Health Counseling will perform all related tasks to fulfill the following:

 

• Oversee delivery of the Mental Health Counseling (MHLC) Program ensuring that courses within the department are delivered consistently and with quality.

• Oversee development, review, and revision of curriculum and course schedule as needed to maintain program relevance and quality.

• Teach a load of 12 credits per academic year.

• Credential, supervise, and evaluate adjunct faculty within the program.

• Work with the MHLC Fieldwork Coordinator, Admissions, and Advising teams to admit qualified students to the program.

• Work with the Online ADC and the Instructional Design team to Prepare Learning Management System (LMS) course shell templates and course copies each semester.

• Advise prospective and current students on academic and professional aspects of the program.

• Coordinate program mentorship.

• Work with the Fieldwork Coordinator in the supervision and placement of students during fieldwork.

• Ensure submission of assessment and program review data for all MHLC courses.

• Maintain records and prepare reports as requested.

• Address issues and concerns of MHLC students.

• Maintain current active membership in at least one (1) relevant professional association in the discipline.

• Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Required: PhD (ABD considered) in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program.

License Required: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or equivalent.

Minimum of three years experience teaching in higher education preferred.

Minimum of three years professional experience in counseling.

• Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

• Experience in planning and developing courses for online delivery.
