Job Title: Financial Analyst/Cost Accountant IIJob Description

We are seeking a Financial Analyst/Cost Accountant II to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. You will analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine their effects on cost. Additionally, you will analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.

  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on cost.

  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

  • Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures.

  • Analyze audits of costs and prepare reports.

  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.

  • Prepare quotations for the cost of large projects and perform analysis post close-out.

  • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.

  • Maintain the Cost Accounting System.

  • Assist with inventory valuation and reporting, including physical inventory and cycle count program and excess and obsolescence analysis.

  • Assist with month-end close of the General Ledger.

  • Develop and maintain a standardized reporting database used for internal performance reporting.

  • Prepare internal monthly performance charts and external Monthly Performance Review (MPR) charts.

  • Reconcile finished goods inventories.

  • Compile project costs and analyze variances.

  • Travel to manufacturing facilities on an as-needed basis.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis (pricing analysis) or cost accounting.

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry.

  • Experience managing own projects/processes.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and queries.

  • Proven longevity and tenure in previous roles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work alongside engineers, sales, purchasing, master data, and factory teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

You will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment alongside engineers, sales, purchasing, master data, and factory teams. The work schedule is flexible with hours ranging from 7-4, 8-5, or 9-6, and includes a Friday Flex day. Training will be provided with a one-month learning curve. The team is small, offering significant room for growth and the opportunity to create new roles. The company values everyone's voice and encourages bringing new ideas to the table. Although there is currently no bonus in compensation, this is being worked on.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $41.00/hr.
