Hillsdale County Friend of the Court Receptionist/Cashier/Locate Specialist in Hillsdale, Michigan

*                       JOB DESCRIPTION: RECEPTIONIST/CASHIER/LOCATE SPECIALIST*

*                                         FULL TIME EMPLOYEE:  GRADE 3 STEP 1*

*                                                     HOURLY PAY:   $17.94*

The Hillsdale County Friend of the Court Office (FOC) is responsible for the enforcement of domestic relations orders of the 1^st^ Judicial Circuit Court. Additionally, the FOC Investigates parties and circumstances involved in domestic relations cases and makes recommendations to the Court regarding custody, parenting time and/or support. The Receptionist/Cashier/Locate Specialist (RCLS) is a key member of the FOC team in meeting these statutorily mandated duties. The primary duties of the RCLS are:

             Greet all visitors to the FOC Office and direct the visitor to the correct FOC                       colleague unless the RCLS can resolve the visitors issue at the front desk.    

-              Answer all phone calls received by the FOC Office and respond to any inquiry                 or direct the caller to an appropriate FOC colleague for resolution of the                           caller's inquiry.

The Hillsdale County FOC has over 4,000 cases under its responsibility. Consequently, the volume of visitors and incoming phone calls can be, at times, overwhelming. Other FOC team members will assist the RCLS during peak times, however, the RCLS is expected to multi-task by accomplishing the below other duties of the position while remaining the primary person who greets external visitors and callers.

             Open the cashier's drawer at the start of the day, receipt all payments made                    during the workday (or are in the office's overnight drop box) and post the                      payments in the automated Michigan Child Support Enforcement System                         (MiCSES), balance and reconcile the daily receipts at the end of the day in                         MiCSES and close the cashier's drawer.

              Ensure that all front office equipment (date stamp, copier, facsimile machine,                   etc.) is replenished and fully functional.

              Receipt, open, date stamp and disperse all incoming mail.

             Enter all Proof of Employment Search forms (POE) in MiCSES.

              Enter all changes of address into MiCSES.

             Perform initial address searches and postal verifications utilizing MiCSES on                    all returned FOC mail marked as Invalid address.

             On difficult location cases, work with the assigned Enforcement Officer to                        perform more in-depth searches.

             Manually file all documents generated through work activities.  

The position reports directly to the Deputy Friend of the Court and, secondarily, to the Friend of the Court Director. The position requires acumen in working with computers, basic accounting skills with a focus on detail and the ability to independently formulate clear solutions to complex problems. The Receptionist/Cashier/Location Specialist must demonstrate strong client relations skills as the RCLS works with individuals of diverse backgrounds often in high conflict relationships.
