Position Summary
The Quality Technician is responsible for the consistent delivery of quality fastener type products as they flow throughout the manufacturing operation and to the customer both internally and externally. The Quality Technician supports the manufacturing plant in testing and inspecting parts for established quality standards at various stages of the process as well as ensuring compliance to IATF-16949 and ISO Standards.
Role and Responsibilities
Oversee the Lab and serve as Quality Laboratory support for the plant. Gathering sample parts to conduct inspections and/or tests to verify product conformance including set-ups (first piece inspection), parts in-process (line inspection), finished product (final inspection), subcontracted parts, or tooling. Documenting and reporting part inspections, audit results, nonconforming issues, provide dispositions and coordinate special process deviations. Investigate and provide input into the resolution of problems. Provide gauge support for manufacturing personnel. Perform functional and performance testing on cold-headed fasteners and other formed and machined components at various stages of production. Operate quality laboratory equipment, caliper, micrometer, optical comparator Interpret part drawings and dimensions, selecting the proper measurement methods, proper use of laboratory tools, inspection techniques, practices Provide assistance in interpreting specifications, measurement methods, containment procedures, and monitoring of new or difficult parts. Initiate, complete, or verify records in the shared drives, into MQ1 quality records system Documenting quality assurance activities to assure compliance to internal procedures, customer requirements, IATF16949 and ISO 14001 standards, and EH&S requirements. LPA auditing, product and process audits and continuous improvement projects Maintain a clean, orderly work area. 5S and weekly cleaning activities Manufacturing processes include cold forming, tapping, thread rolling, and HT
Work with your Supervisor, Gauge Coordinator, Quality Engineers, other QC Technicians, and the PPAP Coordinator to facilitate part inspections and testing Other occasional supporting duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications: Education/Experience
Required: Demonstrated ability to use and understand various precision measuring tools. Caliper, Micrometer, Keyence IM Series, Optical Comparator, etc. Demonstrated ability to read blueprints. Knowledge of quality processes and procedures in a manufacturing plant. Knowledge and application of the heat-treatment of materials for hardness and durability. Knowledge and previous experience with IATF-16949 and ISO-14001 requirements. Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards. Attention to details and a thorough approach to part inspections and quality Good written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with teams. Advanced math skills for blueprint reading, gauging and dimensionals. Ability to identify small defects and good judgment with making decisions. Positive attitude and willingness to participate in team activities. Organized and focused, able to handle tasks quickly and efficiently. Physical dexterity and close-vision for fine part inspections and measurements
Preferred: Preferred (1) year(s) of previous Quality experience in a manufacturing or lab environment. Experience with First Piece Setup Approvals and/or Production Quality
