Upper Peninsula Power Company UPPCO Engineer Intern in Ishpeming, Michigan
Are you an aspiring engineer eager to gain hands-on experience in power generation? Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) is looking for a motivated Engineer Intern to join their Generation Maintenance team in Ishpeming, Michigan. In this role, you'll help ensure our facilities remain safe, reliable, and efficient while gaining valuable insight into the energy industry.
*COMPENSATION. *$19.00 -- $23.00 per hour based on education completed.
*SCHEDULE. *This internship typically follows a Monday--Friday schedule from 7:30am -- 3:30pm, running approximately from May 1 to August 31, 2025. The start and end dates will be coordinated with the successful applicant based on their school schedule.
WHAT YOU WILL DO.
- Promote safety awareness and contribute to a strong safety culture.
- Help develop project scopes, cost estimates, and bid packages.
- Assist in improving facility records and documentation.
- Provide support to pre-bid and pre-construction meetings with contractors and engineering teams.
- Help prepare for Comprehensive Assessments by organizing and scanning key documents.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year Engineering or Technology program.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing equipment is a plus.
