University of Pittsburgh Faculty Professor Assistant - Full-Time in Johnstown, Pennsylvania
The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown invites applications for a Tenure-track (TT) or Appointment Stream (AS) position in Mechanical Engineering, with a preferred focus on mechanics and design, at the Assistant level to start in August 2025. Candidates for the TT position should possess an earned Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and three years of industry experience. The AS position requires an MS in ME with significant industry experience or a PhD with some industry experience. All candidates should possess a broad knowledge of mechanical engineering and be comfortable teaching courses in the general engineering curriculum as well as their area of specialization. For the mechanics and design specialization, this would include teaching core ME courses such as Intro to ME Design, ME Design 1 & 2, Statics and Dynamics as well as upper-level technical electives in this area. The TT position would be expected to pursue scholarship through grants and research and/or industry partnerships as well as contribute to service at the Division and University level and beyond. The AS position has both professional development and service expectations with opportunities for promotion. Opportunities exist to guide relevant senior projects. The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is an undergraduate teaching college, with positions teaching the equivalent of 12 credits (lecture and/or laboratory) per term. The Mechanical Engineering program is part of the Engineering and Computer Science Division and is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org. The Engineering and Computer Science Division enrolls approximately 500 students across 5 engineering programs and computer science. The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is a regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh and is located approximately 80 miles east of Pittsburgh on a picturesque 650 acres in the Laurel Highland Region of Western Pennsylvania.
