SUMMARY:
This position assists in the maintenance of all Kaufman County buildings and is responsible for performing preventative maintenance on buildings and repairing buildings and systems of structures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Repair County owned buildings; repair various systems including plumbing, electrical, structural, heating, and cooling.

``` - Operate various hand and power tools used in building maintenance.

``` - Purchase materials to complete repair jobs.

``` - Check fire extinguishers: check and change air conditioning filters.

``` - Perform outdoor maintenance of lawn, trees, and shrubs, check lawn sprinklers.

``` - Move offices, furniture, fixtures, boxes, filing cabinets and office equipment as needed

``` - Performs other job-related duties as directed by supervisor(s).

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid and appropriate Texas Class C drivers license and acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment in this class series.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma (or GED certificate) preferred.
Experience working in Facilities/Maintenance and Lawn Care, or related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic maintenance and repair of various building and facilities systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; stand; sit; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach and grasp with hands or arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; push; pull; twist; crouch or crawl; bend; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works outside in extreme weather conditions, wetness, and humidity, works near moving mechanical parts, and is occasionally exposed to mechanical, and chemical hazards, fumes, dirt, dust, and airborne particles. The noise and vibration level in the work environment is usually loud.
