JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Summary This is objective level certified nursing assistant (CNA) work with responsibility for providing direct and indirect nursing care, while following individual programs, for up to 60 geriatric, disabled and/or cognitively impaired clients at the Wisconsin Veterans Home. Nursing care is provided in accordance with standards set down by the American Nurses Association, gerontological nursing standards, federal, state, VA regulations the mission and philosophy and policies and procedures of the Wisconsin Veterans Home and Department of Veterans Affairs. Responsibilities include providing nursing care that follows a written care plan to help meet the therapeutic, preventative, restorative, spiritual, psychosocial, cognitive, and rehabilitative needs of the members. This includes some cognitive techniques to help maintain the demented member at the highest functional level. This position works as an integral part of the Health Care Team under the limited supervision of a Nursing Supervisor, under the direction of licensed nursing staff. Job Details These are flexible part-time positions with the option to pick up additional hours as desired with no required overtime. Shifts are available AM, PM, NOC, holidays and weekends. Candidate preferences gathered at time of interview. LTE jobs are limited to 1039 hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits. Job duties require the ability to assist in patient mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing. Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
