U.S. Coast Guard Assistant Child Development Center Director, GS-1701-09 in Kodiak, Alaska
Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, DCMS, Director of Operational Logistics, Base Kodiak Personnel Support Department, Base Kodiak Child Development Center, Kodiak, AK. Responsibilities You will serve as the assistant to the Child Development Director (CDC) assisting in the administrative, supervision, and technical operation of the center. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Planning and developing programs/projects to meet the educational needs with accredited education activities Assisting with preparing an annual budget and funding request for the CDC including both Non-appropriated and Appropriated fund budgets. Initiating and tracking to completion, requests for building maintenance, initiating purchases, and recommending/approving food and equipment purchases. Assisting in preparing the staff, center, program and parents for the accreditation with the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Planning and organizing a program of family childcare (FCC) to reduce risk to children enrolled in USCG certified FCC homes. Supervising personnel including childcare assistants. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. This position requires a Care National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI). The position requires a valid state driver's license. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the Basic Qualification Requirements of the position: Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position such as child development or early childhood education. OR Combination of education and experience--courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. In addition to meeting the Basic Qualification Requirements, applicants must have at least 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent degree in a subject-matter field appropriate to this position such as child development or early childhood education. OR, At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
